What is individual counseling?
Individual counseling is an opportunity for students to meet with the School Counselor one-on-one. If a student is referred to individual counseling, we typically meet once or twice. Should we need to meet more than twice, we will send home a parent/guardian permission form. Unfortunately, we are not therapists and do not provide long-term counseling. When appropriate and necessary, we can refer to outside resources.
WHAT IS THE REFERRAL PROCESS FOR INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING?
Parents/guardians, teachers, and administration can refer a student to individual counseling. This can be done via phone, email, or in-person meetings. In addition, students in grades 2-5 can self-refer by filling out a "pass" to see the Counselor. The passes are given out to teachers at the beginning of the school year, and students must ask their teacher for a pass. Students in grades K-1 must be referred by parents/guardians, teachers, or administration.
